Brush Aerator Issues
- Turbulent flow
brings up BOD that can destroy the odor cap and
cause odor events.
- The turbulent flow,
all coming from one end of the pond, does not give
uniform surface renewal at the other end. (Turbulent
flow is like trying to push a string).
- Sludge mounding is
common. Sludge digestion is inhibited by oxygen
intrusion, and lack of thorough surface renewal
causing methane buildup.
- Aerosols and
potentially-harmful bacteria are released into the
air and can be carried by wind into the surrounding
neighborhoods.
- Higher energy and
maintenance costs.
